Email Notifications – BE GONE!
Posted by: | CommentsDo you receive unwanted email notifications? I do. Most of the time I’m just too busy and I delete them because searching for the preferences just takes too long. I recently tried Notificationcontrol.com and I think I actually squealed with delight. They’ve assembled links to all the major players like Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest and more so that you can edit your notification settings in one click of the mouse.
I’ve noticed that companies are coming up with new ways to try and get your email to send messages. I was at Macy’s yesterday and they offered an electronic receipt. I love that, but then there was a little box above my signature that if checked, gave them permission to send me promotional emails. I noticed it too late and I already had emails from them by the time I arrived home. I unsubscribed right away, but you get the point.
This inspired me to do a major unsubscribe campaign as my email hits the box. I’ve noticed a significant decrease in the amount of email I never touch and that puts a smile on my face.
End Table DIY
Posted by: | CommentsI hope you don’t mind if I share a little DIY project today. I have two end tables that I love…no hate….no love…no hate. Okay, let’s clarify; I love the shape, size and the way it functions in my small space. I hate the scratched and boring top.
Our little DIY project was very simple and it cost absolutely nothing. I found some old calendars that we used for art around the house and my hubby cut them to fit the table top. A little glue and Modge Podge later…. Well, let me know what you think. We love the change and it really helps to brighten the room. It also makes the first cup of coffee in the morning just a little happier.
Perfectly Savvy Finds
Posted by: | CommentsI love Etsy. Although it is becoming more mainstream, I still feel like I can purchase something out of the ordinary and I also love supporting small business owners. Your savvy find this week is meant to encourage you to swing by Etsy to find valentines instead of buying them at the store.
I was able to purchase Valentine’s Day cards for my girls to distribute in their classes and the designers had them in my inbox within a couple of hours. They were already personalized, (saving even more time on my end). A simple print and cut later, we were done.
Printables on Etsy are also a great way to spruce up your artwork. I recently purchase a printable for my kitchen and had it printed on heavy stock at Kinkos. One recycled frame later – I’m done.
Here are some of my favorite Etsy vendors that send printables.

Recipe Review – Green Soup
Posted by: | CommentsI’ve been on a soup kick lately. I received an immersion blender for Christmas and I’ve gone soup silly. I stumbled upon this recipe for Green Soup while listening to The Splendid Table on NPR last weekend. The soup is courtesy of Anna Thomas and eating well.com. It will definitely be my go to soup when I’m beginning to feel run down or if I feel a cold on the way.
The soup is packed with beautiful greens (chard and spinach) and the caramelized onions give it an intense flavor. I did add some garlic for no reason other than I love garlic. I waited until the onions were about ten minutes from completion to avoid burning it. It definitely needs the drizzle of olive oil at the end and next time I make it I will invest in a high end oil because this soup is simple, but worth it.

Hostess and Host Gifts
Posted by: | CommentsHere we go ladies and gentlemen with another season of holiday parties and gatherings galore. Don’t fret, I’ve complied a lovely collection of host and hostess gifts on a Pinterest board for you. A couple of my favorites are the Kitchen Conversion Tea Towels via Whimsy and Spice and the Coffeehouse Chocolate Spoons via BHG.
I recently attended one of the gift wrapping sessions at the Container Store, (totally worth it if you get the chance) and I’m all over their idea for infused vodka as a gift. I think it is a more personal than bringing a bottle of wine because it takes a little effort. There are also endless ways to decorate the bottle and give it some personality. Here is a link with better instructions for infusing via Real Simple.
I LOVE this time of year. Please feel free to comment and share your hostess/host gift giving ideas. Don’t forget to stop by my Pinterest board for more inspiration.
