Outbox to Grab and Go
Posted by: | CommentsI’m a huge fan of placing a bag or box near the door so that you can easily take items with you as you head out for the day. I keep a fabric tote bag on a decorative hook behind my door and I’m able to load it up with items I need for errands the next day. Not only is it handy to have the bag ready for taking items out, but I then have it in my car to bring items back in when I return. What I like most about this process is that I’m not forced to remember everything as I head out of the door. I can simply add them to the bag as I think of them. Here are some examples of items that I assemble ahead of time so that they are ready in the morning;
- Library books
- Items to return
- Reusable Grocery bags
- Coupons
- Items to donate
Zero App To Do List
Posted by: | CommentsI wanted to share a productivity application that I’ve been trying out and have found incredibly useful. The Zero ToDo List works perfectly for my lists and trust me, I’ve tried a number of options. Evernote is great for larger projects, but I really need a simple, quick and easy to use To Do List - Zero is it. Using the app is simple, type in your note or “to do” item and then it will sync to ICal. If your to do item is a grocery list, then Zero has the functionality to add the list in the notes area.
This past weekend I was listening to NPR in the car and heard about two books and a download that I wanted. Normally I would have waited until I got home and would have forgotten about it, or had to research the interview. The Zero app allowed me to quickly enter the information, (AFTER parking the car – never text and drive… EVER).
The app features a free version, a free trial for the more enhanced and then $3.99 to purchase. Give it a try and let me know what you think.
Organizing Art Supplies
Posted by: | CommentsOrganizing your kids art supplies can be a great challenge because it is one of those things that multiplies while you’re not looking. Grandma brings over a new box of crayons every time she visits and it seems like the best option when they’re begging for a toy at Target.
No surprise here, but the key to keeping the supplies organized is to limit them. Weed through what you have and if there appears to be an abundance of markers, crayons or paints then put some of them away in a tote until you need to replenish.
Another idea is to make a small portable kit that they can bring outside for crafts or in the car on long rides.
Keep their options to a minimum and make certain that everything has a defined home so that it is easy for the kids to put away.
Now for some eye candy so that you can think about how to contain your budding Picasso’s art supplies.
This is adorable but also a great use for your old soup cans.
Very clever option on a lazy susan.

I love this option for a little older child – especially if you keep some supplies in your kitchen area.
Cute tote for outside or car rides

Something like this would be great for portable supplies because the tight side pockets would keep the markers or crayons in place.

Perfectly Savvy Finds
Posted by: | CommentsThis week my Savvy Finds shift from the home to the car. We spend a lot of time toting items to and from the car and racing from point A to points B, C and D. The result tends to be a messy car interior and a chaotic scene in between. Take a few minutes this weekend to clean out your car and sort the contents. What do you really need in the car and what can you take out? Do you have all the essentials such as jumper cables and simple tools in an easy to find location? Do you have a trash receptacle? Do you have a large sturdy bag to transport sports gear and other items to and from the house? I’ve found some nifty little helpers for you to begin your car organization project. I really like the the little seat organizer from Duluth Trading and the cute little trash receptacle from Ebags.com.
Happy Driving and remember to stay safe and far away from your cell phone while behind the wheel.
Perfectly Savvy Finds
Posted by: | CommentsHi Everyone,
It is that time of year again when we start thinking about heading back to school. Do yourself a favor and knock a couple of organizing projects out of the park before the year begins. Speaking of knocking it out of the park, let’s look at organizing sports equipment. I’ve got some great little helpers below to try to tame the clutter of all that gear. I also want you to consider how you will take the gear from car to home. I’ve included two ideas for you. Consider a tote bag for each member of the family. The x-large sizes are quite roomy. Everyone can toss their gear in after the game and you can tote it to the house for cleaning. After uniforms and equipment are cleaned and ready, pack them again for a trip to the car. The modular hauler is just plain handy. Use it for sports and summer travel. .
Perfectly Savvy Finds
Posted by: | CommentsI hope that all of you had a chance to read my post earlier this week about cleaning your car. Your Perfectly Savvy Finds this week are all items that will help you get your car in order and ready for spring.
1. Let’s begin at the top with a fun little organizer that could be used to store sun lotion, bug spray and other summer essentials. The handle on top will make it easy to transport back and forth and the bright pink will make it easy to see and remember.
2. The all important trash can. I like this option because it has a nice sturdy base so that it wont tip and it is easy to get the bags in and out.
3. The bright flowery bin would be a good solution for storing car essentials or toys. Easy to carry back and forth from house to car.
4. The red tool box can store a first aid kit or other must haves.
5. I love the green and brown totes from the Container Store. Perfect for toting everything to and from the car in complete style.
6. The blue/turquoise bins are perfect for storing toys/books and other kid items. Easy to pick-up and stack away.
