Email Notifications – BE GONE!
Posted by: | CommentsDo you receive unwanted email notifications? I do. Most of the time I’m just too busy and I delete them because searching for the preferences just takes too long. I recently tried Notificationcontrol.com and I think I actually squealed with delight. They’ve assembled links to all the major players like Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest and more so that you can edit your notification settings in one click of the mouse.
I’ve noticed that companies are coming up with new ways to try and get your email to send messages. I was at Macy’s yesterday and they offered an electronic receipt. I love that, but then there was a little box above my signature that if checked, gave them permission to send me promotional emails. I noticed it too late and I already had emails from them by the time I arrived home. I unsubscribed right away, but you get the point.
This inspired me to do a major unsubscribe campaign as my email hits the box. I’ve noticed a significant decrease in the amount of email I never touch and that puts a smile on my face.
Hang It in Reverse
Posted by: | CommentsI want to share an incredibly simple, brilliant and have I mentioned fabulous way to weed out the clothes in your closet. This is not my invention and I can’t seem to find the original source but I’ve seen it mentioned in a few places including Lifehacker, Reddit and one of my posts on SkinnyScoop.
Go through your closet and change all of the hangers so that they are reversed. After wearing an outfit, return it to the closet with the hanger facing the correct direction. At the end of the season you’ll be able to quickly see the items that you wear versus the items that never get touched. Donate the clothes that are still hanging on the reversed hangers and you’ll suddenly have an amazing amount of room in your closet. The big trick is to not fill it up again!
While on topic, I thought I’d share some of my favorite hangers with you. I’ve picked them to share because clothes will not slip off and they take 1/2 the space of the bulky plastic hangers.

Perfectly Savvy Finds
Posted by: | CommentsOrganizing a drawer can sometimes seem tricky. The space might be hard to fit and hard to maintain. Try thinking outside of the box to find a product that will help you keep the troublesome drawer in top shape. A cute inspiring find inside the drawer might motivate you to keep it organized. Picture a junk drawer that is just so much fun to look in that you HAVE to keep in clean.
Here are some examples to get you motivated.
I love the use of these lunch trays inside a drawer, (top left).

Recipe Review – Green Soup
Posted by: | CommentsI’ve been on a soup kick lately. I received an immersion blender for Christmas and I’ve gone soup silly. I stumbled upon this recipe for Green Soup while listening to The Splendid Table on NPR last weekend. The soup is courtesy of Anna Thomas and eating well.com. It will definitely be my go to soup when I’m beginning to feel run down or if I feel a cold on the way.
The soup is packed with beautiful greens (chard and spinach) and the caramelized onions give it an intense flavor. I did add some garlic for no reason other than I love garlic. I waited until the onions were about ten minutes from completion to avoid burning it. It definitely needs the drizzle of olive oil at the end and next time I make it I will invest in a high end oil because this soup is simple, but worth it.
Organizing the Fridge
Posted by: | CommentsI’ve written posts in the past about organizing the fridge including the use of bins or containers to manage and corral items. I found a brilliant use of Container Store multi purpose bins for the freezer from I Heart Organizing and I wanted to share it with you. I think this is a great solution for all the Trader Joe’s appetizers I have stocked in my fridge, what about you?

Recipe Review – Squash Soup
Posted by: | CommentsI seem to be on a soup theme lately – it must be the time of year. This easy and delicious recipe for squash soup is certain to warm your bones this winter. I love to cook, but the recipe has to be easy. As much as I’d love to spend 2 hours cooking, I just don’t have that kind of time. This recipe took me 10 to 15 minutes of prep. I let it simmer for about 1/2 hr while I did some work and then another 5 minutes to blend and finish it off. I basically followed a recipe I found on allrecipes.com, but I added a little garlic and doubled the amount of carrots and celery. I also blended in my food processor instead of the blender. It is truly a tasty and easy recipe so give it a try and let me know.
