Nesting Prep Bowls – Product Review
Posted by: | CommentsI have a fabulous find and product review of the Nesting Prep Bowls over at Uncommon Goods. This durable space-saver is a welcome addition to my kitchen. I’ve stumbled across bowls that stack, but this set is more versatile because it comes with two mixing bowls, a strainer, sieve and measuring cups. It saves valuable space in the cupboard, but the cool design and bright colors would also work well on open shelves.
My two favorite pieces are the mixing bowls. The large bowl is not only great for baking, but the perfect bowl for popcorn night. The smaller bowl is ideal for making pancakes because the spout makes it easy to pour the batter on the griddle. I love that the strainer stacks neatly with the other bowls because I was able to recycle one to make room for this entire set.
The Nesting Prep Bowls set would make an excellent wedding gift and it is perfect for someone venturing into their first apartment. It would also be a fun gift for kids that love to cook and bake because it is so colorful. Pair it with some fun kid friendly utensils and a couple of recipes. Another thought I had is that this would make a great addition to the kitchen of an elderly parent that is downsizing. The measuring cups are all a different color and that would be a great find for someone that has trouble seeing clearly.
Stop on over to Uncommon Goods for more “out of the box” gift ideas. I featured them over the summer with some Savvy Finds. They’ve also assembled a few gift idea pages such as; Wedding Gifts, Mother’s Day, and a page titled – Gifts for Wife, but I’m thinking I might call it gifts for myself because I see about 10 things I’d like on that page alone.
I was compensated for this post with the product to try from Uncommon Goods. All opinions, as always, are completely my own.
Hostess and Host Gifts
Posted by: | CommentsHere we go ladies and gentlemen with another season of holiday parties and gatherings galore. Don’t fret, I’ve complied a lovely collection of host and hostess gifts on a Pinterest board for you. A couple of my favorites are the Kitchen Conversion Tea Towels via Whimsy and Spice and the Coffeehouse Chocolate Spoons via BHG.
I recently attended one of the gift wrapping sessions at the Container Store, (totally worth it if you get the chance) and I’m all over their idea for infused vodka as a gift. I think it is a more personal than bringing a bottle of wine because it takes a little effort. There are also endless ways to decorate the bottle and give it some personality. Here is a link with better instructions for infusing via Real Simple.
I LOVE this time of year. Please feel free to comment and share your hostess/host gift giving ideas. Don’t forget to stop by my Pinterest board for more inspiration.

Creative Gift Giving
Posted by: | CommentsI love to think outside of the box when it comes to gift giving. I’m not a fan of running to the mall to pick something up, and you certainly won’t find me shopping on Black Friday. I enjoy taking great care in considering the recipient and finding something that they will really use and/or enjoy. I also believe that by really considering the recipient, your likelihood of just adding to the “stuff” and “clutter” is greatly diminished.
I’d like to share one of my Christmas gift ideas that I’m giving this year and hope you’ll find some inspiration for your own holiday giving.
This idea is for my stepdad, so if you know him….shhhhh. He is a great guy that does not really “need” anything. He was born in 1937 and I thought it might be fun to create a gift with a theme around the year he was born.
I began with an amazing service, Find a Birthdate. They have a comprehensive collection of more than 55 years of Life Magazines. Simply select an issue, date, or interest, and they’ll find a match. I selected an issue from the week my stepfather was born. The process was easy, (an actual phone call with Sy, a most fabulous guy) and I had the magazine within a week. Another reason I love this option is because I enjoy frequenting and supporting small businesses.
Next I went to a movie database and found one of the most popular flicks from 1937 and ordered via Amazon.
Last but not least, I did a search for music collections from 1937. I was able to find an entire collection of music from that year on Amazon.
Yes, it takes a little work but I know he will appreciate it. The gift is something he would never think to do by himself and it has meaning. I would absolutely love to hear some of your creative ideas for meaningful gift giving, so please share them!

Creating Memorable Gifts with Old Photos
Posted by: | CommentsLast week I posted a video 5 Quick Tips for Digitizing Old Photos. This week I would like to share some wonderful projects and gifts to share and display your digitized photographs.
One of my favorite finds is the Kodak Pulse digital frame. This frame is perfect for a grandparent or the technically challenged because it is wifi enabled. I purchased one for my mother last year and it is hands down the best gift I ever gave her. I’m able to log in from my home to upload new photos and transition out some of the old. She loves the surprise of coming home to see new photos of the kids and there is no fuss on her end.
A family cookbook can make a wonderful holiday memory. Imagine a photo of your grandmother next to a recipe for her famous apple pie. Cookbooks are easy to make via sites like Snapfish and Shutterfly. Other ideas to utilize your photos via a photo website would be a calendar or stationery.
This next idea via the amazing Sweet Paul will certainly impress. Imagine all of your holiday gifts wrapped in old family photos. I must say the process looks easy and it will certainly add meaning to your gift.

What a great way to begin a conversation with your kids about saving energy.
Perfectly Savvy Finds – Kitchen
Posted by: | CommentsThe Organizing Diva stopped by on Wednesday for a fabulous guest post on what to have in a well stocked kitchen. For your Savvy Finds this week I have some fun items from her list.
The fish measuring spoons are MY favorite kitchen item. I received these as a wedding gift from an absolutely amazing friend, (and foodie) and I use them all the time. They are cute, handy and something special. I always smile when I use them and my girls think they are great fun. Take note because they really do make a great personal gift for a wedding or a friend that is a foodie.
Next up – multiple cutting boards. I love this sleek solution from UncommonGoods. I’ve seen similar solutions but I love the slim design and 4 cutting boards in this one.
A three blade veggie peeler? Brilliant!
Enjoy my finds and have a great weekend!
